The pancreatic cancer is the type of cancer / cancer of the pancreas more common - 90% of cases of malignant neoplasm of the body. Currently, is the 5th cause of cancer death in the West. Data from the National Cancer Institute (INCA) to pose as 2% of all types of cancer and 4% of all cancer deaths. In the U.S., about 28 thousand people a year are diagnosed. It is a high mortality rate due to late diagnosis and its characteristic very aggressive. The median survival at 5 years is less than 0.4% after the diagnosis time of life is on average 4 to 6 months. If the tumor is ressecável the median survival at 5 years is less than 20% on average 13 to 20 months of life after surgery. Slightly more common in men and more in black. Rare before the age of 30, more common after 60 years.

American scientists to ensure that aspirin lowers the risk of developing breast cancer, in addition to the known anticoagulant properties that prevent the heart problems. In a study published by the Journal of the Medical Society of the United States, scientists at the University of Columbia in New York, say that women who consumed the painkiller and similar medicines once a week for six months or more had a 20% lower risk of suffering from breast cancer.

A study by the Pharmachemical Research Institute of Milan, Italy, indicates that the ingestion of aspirin may reduce the chances of developing different types of cancer in the digestive system. The research involved nearly three thousand patients and concluded that regular consumption of aspirin for five years or more like 66% reduction in the chances of developing cancer in the mouth, throat and esophagus.

She belongs to a group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that can block the effects of chemical Cox-2. Researchers in the United States discovered that the protein helps in the growth of cancerous tumors of the ovary. During a conference of the American Association for Cancer Research, the scientists said that these drugs such as aspirin, could combat the disease.

Seven years with a search conducted by researchers from Dartmouth Medical School shows that a daily dose of aspirin may be effective in reducing the risk of colon adenomas - benign tumors that can turn into cancer if left in the intestine.

The multi-center study confirms indications of no statistical studies that low doses of aspirin may protect against cancer of the colon and rectum.

As according to Reuters:

Playing a specially designed video game can help adolescents and young adult cancer patients adhere more closely to their prescribed treatment, according to a report in the journal Pediatrics.

“Targeted video games can help improve the lives of young people with cancer, most importantly improve their adherence to their treatment,” Dr. Pamela M. Kato of the University Medical Center Utrecht in the Netherlands, the study’s lead author, told Reuters Health.

Adherence is a major problem in this age group, Kato and her colleagues point out in their report. While dramatic improvements in survival have been seen in pediatric cancer patients, they add, death rates among teens and young adult patients have not followed this trend. “They’re kind of a tough group that gets a little bit lost in the system,” Kato said.
